Nations Fresh Food is a leading supermarket chain specializing in a multi-ethnic fresh food shopping experience and destination for prepared meals. Nations Fresh Food operates at four locations in Hamilton, Downtown Toronto, Mississauga and Vaughan and is widely known and respected for its high-quality ethnic products and competitive prices.


Nations Fresh Food’s business partners, including suppliers, distributors, transportation companies, third party logistics providers, customs brokers and agents are primarily from China and other Asian countries.


With the business’s continuing growth and to meet the increasing needs of the logistic operations, we are looking for a Logistics General Manager to implement a cost-efficient logistics management system to solve the existing logistics issues and to harmonize logistics.


The position will be at Nations Fresh Food Downtown Toronto located at 1980 St Clair Ave W, Toronto, ON M6N 4X9. The ideal candidate will develop and implement a new, efficient logistics management information system (LMIS) to help manage our high volume of logistics and transportation activities. The ideal candidate will be experienced with high level management within the transportation and logistics industry and possess advanced knowledge in logistics information systems. all associated stores of Nations Fresh Food.

Duties

♦   Oversee and create an aggressive strategy to modernize logistics and logistics technology for Nations Fresh Food stores;


♦   Lead, optimize and monitor daily logistics operations, develop and implement new policies and procedures to address inefficiencies and bottlenecks and establish compliance protocol;


♦   Lead research on commonly used logistics management information systems (LMIS) in Mainland China where our business partners are located, oversee an in-depth analysis, and manage the creation of a new, comprehensive and compatible LMIS for Nations Fresh Food stores;


♦   Implement the new LMIS which will manage, co-ordinate, track and report on daily transportation and logistics including shipping/receiving activities, managing and monitoring schedules, tariffs/duties, shipping costs and all other relevant matters for product deliveries to/from the warehouse, scheduling and organizing customer deliveries, transportation and deliveries tracking, account transactions and purchasing order management, managing dispatch and schedule warehouse staff and so on. The LMIS will harmonize the logistics management system of our business partners in both China and Canada and will create an efficient, standard system which is essential to our continued operations;


♦   Generate and implement financial metrics, assess budgetary and investment requirements and create an annual forecast; Evaluate and analyze the budget to determine the ROI of the LMIS;


♦   Manage, staff, and mentor the senior logistic management team to execute the ongoing daily management and utilization of the system;


♦   Lead the process of integration of the new LMIS system into our supermarket chain clients for a seamless experience; Negotiate and collaborate with Chinese and Asian business partners to align and integrate systems; Drive cohesive communication and alignment between China, Asia and Canada to ensure efficient operations;


♦   Build and maintain key relationships, promote Nations Fresh Food stores, and liaise with appropriate external stakeholders and suppliers to establish and develop long-term, strategic business partnerships in China and overseas.



Requirements

1,   Completion of university degree or diploma in transportation, logistics, supply chain management, technology, computer science, computer information systems, computer engineering or related; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience;


2,   Strong understanding and proven ability to manage the world’s leading and advanced logistics management information systems;


3,   3 or more years of senior management experience in a logistics or logistics technology company with demonstrated experience determining and implementing strategy, overseeing operations and managing teams;


4,   3 or more years of practical experience developing and maintaining logistics management information systems or software in China;


5,   Professional knowledge and experience of LMIS, distribution, and commonly-used intelligent warehouse and transport management systems in China;


6,   Ability in MS Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.;


7,   Ability to lead and supervise a management team of logistics and transportation professionals;


8,   Excellent leadership, time-management, software and technical skills.
